Frontier Schooling is education rebuilt at the leading edge of what AI now makes possible. Nearly all instruction is personal—delivered one-to-one by a parent, mentor, practitioner, or, as children grow older, AI. Our community pods provide what is better done together: collaboration, projects, play and real friendship.
In the past, this required parents to become teachers, curriculum designers, and record keepers all at once. Skip changes that. Working behind the scenes, our trained AI guide helps parents understand their child’s growth, provide the right challenge at the right time, and know what comes next. Children receive a more personal, effective education—without spending six hours a day at a desk.

Every week I see it more clearly: these kids are developing something that's hard to measure but impossible to miss. They're becoming the kind of people who notice things—who pick up a rock and wonder what's under it, who see a plant and ask if they can eat it, who look at a heavy bucket and think, “I bet I can figure out how to move that.”
On the drive home, one child shared that she'd felt like giving up early in the mission—but was glad she didn't, because she eventually solved the puzzle. That moment stayed with me. Within difficulty are opportunities to uncover new skills, resilience, and self-knowledge. That's what we try to do here at Skip School.
Did the kids build the trebuchet with a great level of autonomy? No. But watching a grown-up work through a problem—asking questions, iterating, not giving up—is its own kind of lesson. Sometimes the most powerful thing a kid can see is a parent struggling right alongside them.
There are parts of this season that we will only understand later—the way our kids will remember it, the way these friendships will settle into them, the way these experiences may become reference points for what childhood felt like.

Skip school is a next generation approach to homeschooling called Frontier Schooling. Families remain at the center of their child’s education, while Skip School provides the structure, guidance, and community that make homeschooling feel supported rather than solitary.
There are two core parts of Skip School:
1. A real local learning community
Families join a small pod of committed local children and parents led by a pod leader. Pods meet regularly, typically two to three times each week, for hands on missions, design labs, and outings. These shared experiences give children friendship, social development, adventure, and meaningful opportunities to build, explore, create, and solve problems together around a thoughtfully designed curriculum.
2. Personalized support at home
Outside the pod, families receive guidance from SKIP, our AI learning guide. SKIP helps parents understand what their individual child needs next and provides tailored support for reading, writing, math, and other academic work done at home, whether with a parent or another teacher.
You do not need to be a teacher or create an education from scratch. You bring your knowledge of your child; Skip School brings the framework, curriculum, expert informed guidance, and a community of families walking the path alongside you.
Our goal is to give children what even $50,000 a year in private school tuition often cannot: a deeply personalized education alongside a childhood full of freedom, friendship, adventure, and joy.
Your child’s week combines learning, adventure, and meaningful time with their local pod.
On Mission Day, children take on a shared challenge, building, creating, investigating, and figuring things out together. Design Lab gives them time to test their ideas, notice what is and isn’t working, and make improvements. It is where children practice design thinking: trying, revising, discovering better ideas, and learning that strong work usually develops through iteration.
Out in the Wild takes learning into the community. Children meet real people, visit real places, and encounter experiences that bring their questions to life. These outings also help children build confidence, communication skills, and comfort engaging with people beyond their usual pod.
Alongside pod gatherings, families guide reading, writing, and math practice at home. Many families choose to do academics five days a week, Monday through Friday, sometimes keeping Tuesdays through Thursdays lighter to make room for pod learning. Each family decides what rhythm works best for its child and household.
SKIP helps you plan and schedule that academic work, understand your child’s next steps, and receive tailored support, so you do not have to create lessons from scratch or recreate a classroom in your living room.
Our current pod gathers on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Families attend as many gatherings as they can, with flexibility around the rest of the week. There is time to make real progress, get absorbed in projects, play with friends, and enjoy being a kid.
Parents are active partners in their child’s learning, not spectators. Skip School is not a drop off program: a parent or caregiver attends each pod gathering with their child. Your presence helps create a safe, connected learning community and gives children the support they need as they explore, collaborate, and work through challenges.
That does not mean you need to hover over your child or lead every activity. Children are encouraged to build independence, take ownership of their ideas, and work with one another. Parents step in as needed, help maintain the group environment, and support the pod leader in making gatherings run smoothly.
At home, you guide your child’s personalized learning, especially reading, writing, and math. You do not need to be a trained teacher or design an education from scratch. Skip School provides the curriculum, ready to run missions, materials guidance, training, and ongoing support for pod leaders, while SKIP helps you understand your child’s next steps and plan the work at home.
SKIP is an AI agent we’ve built as your family’s personal education guide. It is designed around Skip School’s approach to learning and child development, with one focused job: to help you understand your child, know what to do next, and make it simpler to provide a deeply personalized education.
SKIP helps families develop an individual curriculum and plan meaningful next steps in reading, writing, math, and child led interests. If a certain kind of work clicks for your child and you want more practice at the same level, SKIP can create it within seconds. If something is too easy, it can extend the challenge; if your child is struggling, it can offer a different explanation, a new approach, or an activity built around something they love.
It also makes the administrative side of homeschooling dramatically easier. If your family works with an accredited charter program, such as Ocean Grove, SKIP can help you connect activities and student work to relevant content standards and keep track of learning over time. The documentation and planning that can otherwise feel overwhelming can be captured simply: a photo of student work, a voice note, or a quick stream of consciousness update from a parent. SKIP turns those small inputs into useful records, observations, and next steps, without requiring complicated systems or hours of organization.
Over time, the observations you share, the work your child completes, their breakthroughs, interests, and challenges build a richer picture of their learning. That helps you recognize patterns, see real progress, and plan what comes next without becoming a full time curriculum designer, tutor, researcher, and record keeper.
SKIP is a tool for parents, not children. In the early years, children are not placed in front of an AI tutor or asked to use AI tools themselves. We believe AI should be introduced thoughtfully and responsibly, and we do not believe young children need personal access to AI. As children grow toward greater independence, potentially around ages 10 to 12, families may receive guidance about carefully chosen tools that can support exploration, skill practice, and independent projects. Parents remain central in deciding whether, when, and how technology is used.
SKIP brings personalized guidance and organization together alongside the support of your pod leader, so you do not have to figure everything out before you begin.
Skip School is currently designed primarily for children ages 4 to 7, which we call the Explorer Stage. This is the main stage we are actively supporting right now, with a curriculum built around hands on missions, design labs, outings, and personalized academic guidance at home.
Younger siblings are welcome to attend alongside their families as Tinker Tots. They can be part of the community and participate in age appropriate ways, while the core program is designed for Explorers.
We are building Skip School as a path children can grow with. As our founding community grows, we are developing the next stages of learning: the Builder Stage for older children, followed by the Pathfinder Stage for high school students. Our goal is not to create a program children age out of after a few years, but a long term educational community that evolves with them, from the early Explorer years through high school.
Skip School grows through small, local communities of families. Availability depends on your location, the ages of interested children, and having a suitable pod leader. Tell us where you live on the interest form so we can consider your family as opportunities develop. If you’re interested in bringing a pod to your community, you can tell us that there too. Joining the waitlist does not guarantee that a pod will open nearby or that a place will be available.
Family membership is $148 per month plus materials. It includes our Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday pod gatherings, Tinker Tots for younger siblings, access to our Slack community, monthly guest speakers, and SKIP, our AI education guide. Attend as many pod gatherings as you can.
No payment is collected when you join the waitlist. We’ll first meet with you and make sure the program and pod are a good mutual fit.
